Active At 60
This fund is now closed.
Active at 60 was a £1 million government grant programme, offering funding to community groups to help people in their 60s keep active and make the most of their later lives.
About the fund
People making the transition into retirement can lose their social network as they move out of employment and settle into a different routine, particularly those who have an illness or disability. Active at 60 offered funding to community groups to help people in their 60s keep active and make the most of their later lives.
Funding was made available in 30 local authority areas across England, based on indices of deprivation, number of pensioners and other relevant factors. Each of the funded groups recruited at least one ‘Active at 60 Community Agent’, a volunteer aged over 60 whose role is to encourage people to be more active and engaged with their communities.
Active at 60 was administered across the 30 areas by a network of local funders.
Who was eligible?
Local groups with less than £50,000 annual income in 30 selected areas across England applied for grants of between £250 and £3,000.
