The Local Involvement Networks (LINks) were set up under the Local Government and Public Involvement in the Health Act 2007. The focus of LINks was originally on providing citizens with a stronger voice in how their health and social care services are delivered. In 2008 the government expanded the remit of a selection of LINks, in response to ‘Communities in Control: Real People, Real Power’.
CDF is commissioned by Communities & Local Government to manage, support and evaluate the LINks projects that are expanding their remit. Given the requirement for both support and evaluation, CDF are keen to adopt an approach that best captures learning from the LINks and enables them to effectively expand their remit.
The evaluation started in April 2009 and will end in March 2011. The evaluation includes working closely with the LINks to provide support in the initial set up phase of the project, and providing responsive tailored support. The planned action learning sessions will aid in developing common lessons learnt.
