Programmes
We run a number of externally funded programmes which help us:
- Gain relevant experience to inform policy
- Put policy into practice
- Test policy or practice
- Learn and share our learning
- Network and form partnerships
- Lead the way in community development
Our programmes are national in scope and have an evaluation and support programme alongside them to improve the work and the outcomes achieved.

The Community action against crime: Innovation fund encourages creative new approaches to tackling crime. The fund is worth £5 million in 2011/12, with a further £5 million set aside for 2012/13. It will encourage greater community activism and enable communities to develop innovative approaches to tackling the local crime issues that matter to them.
Community First
Community First is an £80m government-funded programme that will run for four years, until March 2015. It will help communities come together through new and existing community groups, to identify their strengths and local priorities, plan for their future and become more resilient.
Active at 60
Active at 60 is a £1 million government grant programme, offering funding to community groups to help people in their 60s keep active and make the most of their later lives.
Big Local
Big Local is a ten year programme working with and supporting communities, in up to 150 selected areas, to make where they live and work a better place now and in the future.
