The CDF team visited and spoke with a range of projects across the country to meet the people running the community projects and hear their stories.

• Sparkbrook Neighbourhood Forum, Birmingham
  In this case study, you can find out how the Community First programme has brought together organisations from across the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham. The programme has facilitated networking, brought people together and encouraged even more voluntary activity for the future.
• Cartwheel Arts, Heywood
  Meet Cartwheel Arts, an organisation providing arts projects in Greater Manchester, promoting community cohesion and good physical and mental health.
• A journey through the field of art, East Anglia
  The team meet Lorenzo Barron, who runs art classes in his community for people with mental health problems. Find out how art classes have changed the lives of local people.
• Pyramid Centre, Peterborough
  Find out how the Pyramid Centre in Peterborough is running a whole range of projects, changing the lives of local young people.
• Health for All, Leeds
  This featured organisation is a Community First Panel Partner. Find out about the work they do in their community, as well as how they support other community groups in the area.
• Pompey in the Community, Portsmouth
  Find out how this community project is encouraging young people from different backgrounds to meet through cricket programmes, as well as training up young volunteers.
• Pyramid Centre, Peterborough
  The Pyramid Centre in Peterborough provides activities for young people. In the case study you can hear from Sabrina Bezkorowajnyj from Peterborough City Council about the work they do and how their projects reduce anti-social behaviour and increase confidence.
• Trinity Community Arts, Bristol
  Trinity Community Arts have been providing innovative arts and music projects since the centre’s birth as a music venue in the 1970s. Read about their gardening projects, children’s quests and other inspiring projects.
• SupportNet, Nottingham
  This case study tells the story of the SupportNet drop-in session in Nottingham. Find out about the huge range of community activities they run – including a ping pong league!
• Chequers Bridge Centre, Gloucester
  Meet Imran Atcha, co-ordinator at the Chequers Bridge Centre in Gloucester. The centre is home to a huge range of organisations, from a City Farm to a financially accessible gym for the community.
• South Tyneside CVS, South Tyneside
  In this case study, the team meet Susan at the South Tyneside CVS. They are Community First panel partners, which means they offer support to the local Community First panels.
• Cheetham Al-Hilal Community Project, Manchester
  The team met Abid Hussain, the centre’s Chair, about the projects they run, such as their children’s summer school.
• Malachi Community Trust, Birmingham
  The team met Mick York, Development Manager at the Malachi Community Trust. Malachi runs innovative community art projects to help prevent graffiti in the area.
• Little Miracles, Peterborough
  Find out about Little Miracles, an organisation for families with children that have additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions.
• RnB Learning Zone, Birmingham
  The team went to meet Lynda Batchelor and Derek Nutt, who run the RnB Learning Zone in Birmingham. The RnB Learning Zone runs IT skills sessions for members of the community, including a hugely popular Work Club.
• Oblong, Leeds
  The team went to visit Woodhouse Community Centre, run by Oblong, in Leeds. Oblong’s aim is to create “active, flourishing communities” in a range of creative and interesting ways.
• The Cedarwood Trust, North Tyneside
  The Cedarwood Trust is a drop in community centre and registered charity located in the Meadow Well estate in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear. The team dropped by for lunch and a chat, and found out more about what they do and who they’re able to benefit.
