The Hardship Fund was a £17.5 million programme for third sector organisations in England who are delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society.
About the Hardship Fund
The Hardship Fund supported organisations with an annual income of at least £200,000 that were in financial hardship as a result of the recession, and which was impacting on their ability to deliver services in the following areas:
- health and social care;
- housing support;
- education and training;
- information, advice and guidance.
195 organisations were awarded a grant of between £50,000 and £250,000.
The Hardship Fund was funded by the government and managed by CDF. It was announced in the Budget and built on the government’s £42.5 million Real Help for Communities action plan. In November 2009 the Hardship Fund received an additional £750,000 from OTS, taking the total fund to £17.45 million.
